My Sister installed Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition on her home computer twice. Is there a way to delete it? She has two copies on the hard drive and it is taking up too much space. Is there a way to delete one copy with out crashing or messing up the other copy? I was gonna ask microsoft but they want me to pay $50. Someone please help.

Hai, it's very simple. First back up all your data.. then do a clean install on the computer computer which would delete the al the partitions and it would only have one copy.

Let me tell you theirs also a glitch, when ever you install the operating system their would be only one copy installed but when the computer is powering on it shows as two. It's a bug in XP. for that we just need to change the settings. it goes like this.

click start > run > msconfig > boot.ini tab > reduce the time out to 3 sec or 0 sec. restart the computer, when you do that the computer would show the two names, which is a bug but just powers on the computer back to the operating system. THis will not cause any probs.

*** before doing an install of Xp back up the data.****
